What awaits you in Sitges
Seventeen beaches and a church on the rock. The church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla stands on La Punta headland between Ribera and Sant Sebastià beaches, splitting the seafront in two, and the promenade runs off from it in both directions.
The old town behind it is a grid of narrow streets with Modernista mansions: they were built by locals who made their fortune in Cuba and came home. The Cau Ferrat museum was the house of the painter Santiago Rusiñol.
Sitges has its own calendar: carnival in February, the international film festival in October, and a summer season that brings people onto the seafront every evening. It is also the most gay-friendly town on the coast, and has been for decades.
