How to get to Hotel Calipolis in Sitges from Barcelona Airport
Hotel Calipolis is hard to miss. It stands right on Passeig de la Ribera, the main seafront promenade in Sitges, and the water is no more than fifty metres from its doors. From the upper floors you look out over the sea and the old town, with the spire of the Sant Bartomeu church above the rooftops.
Calipolis sits just 29 km from Barcelona Airport, ~31 min on the road, and that's a real plus: after a flight you want to be in your room quickly. Here's how to cover that stretch.
Where the hotel stands
Look for the hotel on the middle stretch of the promenade, next to Sant Sebastià beach. The spot is genuinely handy: the old town is a ten-minute walk away, the station fifteen, and an evening stroll starts at the hotel door.
Cars pull up to the hotel from the promenade side. Passeig de la Ribera gets tight in summer, but the driver can still drop you right at the entrance.

BusGarraf runs from the airport to Sitges on the Vilanova - Sitges - Aeroport - Bellvitge line. It leaves from T1 and calls at T2 only once a day. Land at T2 and you'll find a free shuttle running between the terminals: every 5 minutes during the day, less often early in the morning and in the evening. The bus takes you as far as the centre of Sitges, and from there you walk down to the seafront. Buses leave every half hour at peak times and once an hour the rest of the day.
The train costs less than the bus or a taxi, but no line runs from the airport without a change. One stop on R2 Nord to El Prat de Llobregat, a change there onto R2 Sud, then 24 minutes on the train. From Sitges station you walk about fifteen minutes downhill to Calipolis. With a backpack that walk is fine; with two suitcases it's hard work. The same train also runs from Barcelona Sants station if you're already in the city.
Taxis run on the meter, so there's no figure agreed in advance. At night and at weekends the ride costs more than the daytime rate.
By day a metered taxi can work out cheaper than a transfer. The difference lies elsewhere: with the meter you only find out the amount at the end of the ride. A transfer price is fixed when you book, and it does not climb with traffic or a night tariff.
With suitcases a transfer is easier than the bus or a train with a change: a verified driver takes you to the hotel entrance, and you know the price before the ride.

What is around the hotel
Sant Sebastià beach (Platja de Sant Sebastià) lies directly opposite. It's far quieter than the beaches in the middle of town, which is why families and anyone after a calm day pick it.
Ten minutes along the sea brings you to the old town. Narrow streets, late-nineteenth-century houses built by the "americanos" who came back from Cuba, and the Cau Ferrat museum in what used to be the studio of the painter Santiago Rusiñol.
In February the whole of Sitges turns out for carnival: parades run through the streets of the centre several days in a row. In October the fantasy film festival opens.
