How to get to Hotel Calipolis in Sitges from Barcelona Airport
Hotel Calipolis is hard to miss: it stands right on Passeig de la Ribera, the main seafront promenade in Sitges, and it is no more than fifty metres from its doors to the water. From the upper floors you can see the sea and the old town with the bell tower of Sant Bartomeu church.
Calipolis is only 29 km from Barcelona airport and the drive takes ~32 min - which is a point in its favour, because after a flight you want to be in your room sooner rather than later. Here is how to get there.
Where the hotel stands
Calipolis sits in the middle stretch of the promenade, by Sant Sebastia beach. The spot really is convenient: the old town is ten minutes on foot, the station fifteen, and an evening stroll starts the moment you step out of the door.
The car pulls up to the hotel from the promenade. Passeig de la Ribera gets busy in summer, but dropping off right at the entrance is possible.

The e16 bus, run by BusGarraf, leaves from Terminal 1 at Barcelona airport with no changes. If you land at T2, a free shuttle runs between the terminals every 7 minutes. The bus drops you in the centre of Sitges, and from there you walk down to the seafront. Departures are every half hour at peak times and hourly the rest of the day.
The train is the cheapest way to reach Sitges, but there is no direct line: one stop to El Prat de Llobregat, change there to the R2 Sud, then 24 minutes on. From Sitges station to Calipolis it is another fifteen minutes uphill on foot. Fine with a backpack, rather less fun with two suitcases. The same train also runs from Barcelona Sants station if you are already in the city.
A taxi runs on the meter, so you learn the final figure at the end. Nights and weekends cost more.
By day a metered taxi can work out cheaper than a transfer. The difference is elsewhere: with a taxi you find out the total when you arrive, while a transfer price is fixed when you book and does not grow with traffic or a night tariff.
The best option, in our view, is a transfer: door to door, a verified driver, and the price known before you travel.
What that changes in practice
The driver follows your flight number. If your plane is late, the pickup shifts by itself and there is no extra charge. Waiting time at the airport is 60 minutes free, which covers passport control and baggage.
Child seats are free, but do tick the box when you book. As for luggage: a Comfort takes three large suitcases, a Van up to seven, depending on their size.
Toll roads are not included in the transfer price.
What is near the hotel
Sant Sebastia beach (Platja de Sant Sebastia) is directly opposite. It is calmer than the central beaches, which is why families and anyone after a quiet day tend to choose it.
Fancy seeing the old town? It is ten minutes along the sea. Narrow streets, houses from the end of the nineteenth century built by the "americanos" who came back from Cuba, and the Cau Ferrat museum in the former studio of the painter Santiago Rusinol.
