Barcelona Sants station to Girona Airport

Girona - Costa Brava is a single terminal serving low cost and charter traffic, and its rhythm follows those flights. Several depart within an hour of each other, then the building empties.

In practice that means two things. Check-in queues appear suddenly rather than building gradually, so arriving with time in hand matters more than at a large airport. And outside the busy windows there is very little inside the terminal to fill an hour with.

The airport is thirteen kilometres south of Girona city, off the AP-7. Nothing walkable is nearby.

By train and bus. Sants to Girona station takes under an hour on the high speed line, then a bus to the terminal. The bus schedule follows flights, so the wait depends on which one you are catching.

By coach. Direct services run from Barcelona to the airport but leave from the Nord bus station rather than Sants, and departures are spread thinly.

By hire car. Adds a drop-off and a fuel stop to a day that already has a flight in it.

By private transfer. Straight from the station concourse to the terminal door, an hour and a half, with the departure time built into the pickup.

Tell us the flight time when you book. We set the pickup from it rather than asking you to work backwards from a road time you cannot check.

Allow for the check-in surge. Because flights here bunch, the queue can go from nothing to long in fifteen minutes. Two hours before departure is comfortable, ninety minutes is tight.

The driver waits fifteen minutes free at the station, and we can meet you on the concourse with your name if you are arriving by train.

Luggage is not a problem. Ski bags, surfboards and oversized cases need a different vehicle, so mention them at booking rather than at the kerb.
