Girona airport from the inside
Girona - Costa Brava is a single terminal serving low-cost and charter airlines, and its rhythm follows the timetable of those flights. Several planes leave within an hour, then the building empties.
In practice that means two things. The check-in queue appears suddenly rather than building up gradually, so a time margin matters more here than at a big airport. And outside departure hours there is almost nothing to do in the terminal.
The airport stands thirteen kilometres south of the city, by the AP-7 motorway. There is nothing within walking distance.
How to work out the timing
Give your departure time when you book. We count the pick-up back from it rather than asking you to subtract the drive yourself.
Allow for the rush at check-in. Because flights leave in batches, the queue grows within fifteen minutes. Two hours before departure is relaxed, an hour and a half is tight.
