How Much Luggage Actually Fits: Comfort or Van
Two people with suitcases travel comfortably in a sedan. Four of you will not fit: Comfort seats three. With all the luggage on board it stops being a comfortable ride. A family of four with a folded pushchair. A golf trip. A week on the slopes. A couple setting off with bulky bags. That's the point where you stop being sure everything will go into the boot.
Here's how to pick the class before you book, rather than when the driver has already opened the boot.

A large suitcase here means the checked size that most airlines accept, roughly 75 cm tall. Hand luggage means the standard 55 x 40 x 20 cm cabin bag that goes in the overhead locker.
The number people usually get wrong
Pick the class by the size of the boot, not by the number of passenger seats. Three people sit in a sedan, but only two large suitcases fit behind them. Three adults with a large suitcase each won't fit in a sedan - that's a Van.
The boot of a sedan holds 540 litres. A minivan with all seven seats occupied holds more than 1000 litres, and with the rear rows folded down, considerably more.
That's the real difference. Not the extra seats, but a boot that still has room to spare once everyone is on board.
The price gap is smaller than people assume
Van fares are about 6% higher than Comfort. For the exact amount in each class, look at the calculator on the route page:

On a short run from the airport the gap between classes comes to a few euros. That's less than a coffee each for a party of four. For that, you stop wondering whether the boot will shut.
The advice is simple: if you're torn between two classes, take the Van. Go too small and you'll have to order a second car on the spot. Go too big and you've overpaid by a few euros.
When Comfort really is enough
- Two people, two large suitcases plus a piece of hand luggage each
- One person on a business trip with a suitcase and a laptop bag
- Two or three adults travelling light, hand luggage only
- A couple with a child and one compact folded pushchair
For trips like these a sedan does the job, and it costs less than a minivan.
When you need a Van
Four or more people, a suitcase each. Comfort seats three passengers, and the boot was never sized for that many bags. Take the Van: seven seats and a boot for seven suitcases.
Pushchairs. Folded, a pushchair takes up roughly as much room as a medium suitcase. Two adults, a toddler, two suitcases and a pushchair already add up to a Van.
Skis and snowboards. A ski bag is about 175 cm long. It won't fit in a sedan boot, no matter how you angle it. And running it through the cabin means folding down seats your passengers need.
Golf. A hard club case measures roughly 130 x 40 x 40 cm. One of them just about squeezes into a large sedan. Two won't fit at all.
Surfboards. Shortboards up to 190 cm travel comfortably in a minivan with the rear row folded down. For longboards, message us before you book: we'll check the length and tell you straight if they won't fit.
Bike boxes. A standard bike case is about 140 x 80 x 30 cm. Van only, and one of them fills almost the whole boot.
Exhibition material. Roll-up banners, sample cases, boxes of brochures. Measure the longest side and message us - we'll tell you whether it fits the class you've picked.
Two things worth knowing before you book
You pay for the car, not per person. Six people in a Van pay the same as two. Comfort is built for three, a Van takes up to seven people, Premium up to three. That's why one Van works out cheaper for a group than two sedans for the same people.
A child seat comes free with every fare and is mandatory for children 135 cm and under. It takes nothing away from the luggage space, but it does occupy a passenger seat. Two children in seats plus three adults make five places, which means a Van, even with modest luggage.
How to decide in a minute: measure the longest item
Almost every borderline case comes down to a single object. Once you know the longest side of your biggest item, the answer is usually obvious:

Frequently asked questions
Does a folded pushchair count as a suitcase? Yes. In the boot a folded pushchair takes up as much room as one medium suitcase. If two large suitcases travel alongside it, you need a Van.
How many large suitcases fit into a Comfort sedan? Two go in easily - that is what the class is built for. A third sometimes squeezes in if all three are standard checked size, but we do not promise room for it: with three suitcases a Van is the safer call. Hand luggage rides in the cabin.
And into a Van? Up to seven large suitcases, and that's with all seven seats occupied. Fold down the rear row and roughly twice as much goes in.
Can I bring skis? Yes, in a Van. A ski bag is about 175 cm and won't fit a sedan. Mention it when you book so the driver can prepare the cabin.
What about a golf case? A Van takes one hard case easily, and two if you need it. One barely squeezes into a sedan, and for two there's simply no room left.
Is a Van much more expensive? About 6% more. On a short run from the airport that comes to a few euros for the whole car.
Is the price per person? No, it's per car. The number of passengers makes no difference to the fare.
What if the luggage doesn't fit on the day? Message us before you book, not next to an open boot. If we picked the class and got it wrong, we sort it out ourselves. If the first we hear about the surfboard is in the car park, you'll have to order a second car there and then.
Do child seats reduce the luggage space? No, but each one occupies a passenger seat. Count the seats and the suitcases separately.

Families heading for the coast tend to take the Van: the run to Salou lasts ~1 hr 9 min, and on a trip like that one extra suitcase matters more than the difference in price.
