Barcelona Airport to La Seu d'Urgell is 180 km, and the drive takes ~2 hr 17 min. Two hundred metres from the old town stands Parc Olímpic del Segre. It is a whitewater canal, built for the 1992 Olympics, and it is open all year round.
We carry kayaks, paddles and wetsuits in the Van: it takes the gear and the suitcases of the whole team. Choose this class when you book.
Every trip into the mountains is driven on winter tyres and with snow chains on board.

Booked a transfer from El Prat Airport to our hotel in the Gothic Quarter and it was flawless. The driver was waiting for us at arrivals with a name sign, helped with the luggage, and the price was exactly what the app showed, no surprises, no meter running. After a long flight, it was such a relief to just get in the car and go. Booking took me literally two minutes on the app, no calls, no back-and-forth. Highly recommend ☺️

The Olympic canal. Parc Olímpic del Segre was built for the 1992 Olympics and still runs all year round. The water flow is held up by pumps, so conditions on the course are the same in July and in January. The canal is two hundred metres from the old town. There is a rental shop and a school next door, so you can try it without your own gear.
The 2027 World Championships. In 2027 the world championships in slalom and kayak cross will be held here, while freestyle and wildwater go to neighbouring Sort. La Seu hosts the slalom for the fourth time: 1999, 2009 and 2019 came before. The slalom races will also serve as qualification for the Olympics in Los Angeles.
Santa Maria cathedral. This is the only Romanesque cathedral in Catalonia that has survived in one piece. Work began in 1116, and from 1175 it was led by the Lombard master Ramon Lambart. Step into the cloister: three Romanesque galleries are still standing. Next to it is the church of Sant Miquel, older still, from the 11th century.
The road to Andorra. The border is nine kilometres from here, Andorra la Vella twenty. The Bishop of Urgell is one of the principality's two co-princes, together with the President of France - hence the town's nickname, the gateway to Andorra. If you are heading for the ski slopes or going shopping, this is a handy place to stop for lunch. Add a stop along the way when you order in the app: it cannot be added once the trip is under way.
The old town. Carrer dels Canonges has kept its medieval buildings with wooden galleries. A market runs on the square on Tuesdays and Saturdays. If your days fall then, come in the morning.
