Is Salou open in winter? What's on from November to March
Not everything in Salou is open in winter, and a lot depends on the month. If you're going for PortAventura, November, December and the first week of January will suit you: the park is open every day until 6 January, then closes from the 7th until 20 February. If you're after the sea without the crowds, any month will do: even in January the average daytime temperature here is around 14°C.
Getting there in winter: fly into Barcelona
From Reus Airport to Salou it's ~21 min by car, but in winter don't count on Reus: on 2 November we checked the list of airlines at Reus Airport on the Aena website, and it was empty. So in winter flying into Barcelona is the safer bet. A transfer from Barcelona Airport to Salou takes ~1 hr 9 min, and to Cambrils ~1 hr 13 min.
Trains run in winter too: the R17 goes from Estació de França to Salou-Port Aventura station, and Cambrils is on the R16 line. November: the park opens daily, Ferrari Land in the evenings
Christmas starts at PortAventura Park on 20 November. The park is open every day, usually from 10:30 to 18:00, and until 23:00 on Saturday 7 and Saturday 14 November. Ferrari Land is trickier in November: it only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. To fit both parks into one day, come on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday: spend the day in PortAventura Park, then Ferrari Land opens in the evening (17:00 on Friday, 16:30 at the weekend) and stays open until 22:00. The Caribe water park is closed in November.
In the evening, head to the Jaume I promenade for the fountains. From 2 November to 15 January they run on Fridays, Saturdays, public holidays and the days before holidays: the cybernetic fountain at 19:00 and the illuminated Font Lluminosa at 19:30, so you can catch both shows in one evening.
December and early January: Christmas in the park and in town
PortAventura Park doesn't close over the holidays: it's open all of December, including the 24th and 25th, from 10:30 to 18:00, and until 19:00 on some days. Christmas in the park runs until 6 January. In the first half of December Ferrari Land is only open on 4-8 and 11-13 December, but from 18 December it opens every evening. On Christmas Eve and 31 December it opens in the daytime, from 13:00 to 19:00, and on those two days you can fit in both parks: PortAventura Park is open until 18:00.

Salou town council has its own Christmas programme, from 5 December to 5 January: around forty events, with concerts, children's parties and charity drives. It ends on 5 January, when the Three Kings arrive in town. On 26 December, Sant Esteve's Day, Salou holds the Sant Esteve race. In Cambrils a Christmas market runs in Parc del Pinaret from 11 to 13 December.

7 January to mid-March: the parks are closed, the towns have their own festivals
PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land close on 7 January. PortAventura Park reopens on Saturdays and Sundays from 20 February to 14 March, and from 18 March it's open every day. Ferrari Land opens a day later, on 19 March.
In these weeks, though, Salou and Cambrils have festivals of their own. Salou's main winter festival runs from late January to early February: in 2026 it lasted from 24 January to 8 February. On its main Saturday the Cós Blanc evening parade makes its way through town with music and confetti, and the town council calls it the biggest confetti festival in Catalonia. We haven't yet found an official calendar for 2027. In February Cambrils holds its galera days: galera is the local name for the mantis shrimp, and the town's restaurants cook it in all sorts of ways. In 2026 they ran from 6 February to 1 March, and from 13 to 29 March the restaurants held artichoke days.

The station is near Reus, a few kilometres from the sea, and AEMET has no separate figures for Salou itself. Leave the swimsuit at home and pack a light jacket.

Can I do PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land in one day in winter?
In November you can, on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday: the park is open until 18:00, and Ferrari Land from 16:30 or 17:00. From 18 December to 6 January Ferrari Land is open every day.
Should I fly into Reus or Barcelona for Salou in winter?
In winter, fly into Barcelona: in early November Aena's schedule for Reus Airport didn't list a single airline, and we couldn't find a date for when flights resume.
Is Salou worth visiting in January if the parks are closed?
It is if you're going for the sea: you can stroll along the seafront in peace, and until 15 January the fountains run on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays. If PortAventura is the point of the trip, then no.
What's the weather like in Salou from November to March?
From November to March the average is 14-17 °C by day and 4-8 °C at night, with rain on about four days a month, according to AEMET data for Reus Airport.
