Salou is 108 km from Barcelona, and the drive takes ~1 hr 20 min. Next door is PortAventura, the largest theme park in Spain, and people go there separately from the beaches.
The train from Barcelona reaches Salou-PortAventura station a few times a day, from the station you still have to get to the hotel, and the timetable does not always match the park's opening time. A direct transfer takes you from your address to the park gates or the hotel entrance. The driver collects you at your door and drives straight to the address.

What awaits you in Salou
The Costa Daurada starts here. Salou is 108 km from Barcelona and 13 km from Reus airport. Llevant beach is the main one: 1,200 metres of fine sand with a promenade, and a gentle slope into the water, which matters when you travel with small children.
PortAventura is seven minutes' drive away. Two parks all year round and a water park in summer. Many people take a hotel in Salou and go to the park every day: it works out cheaper than staying on site.
The town lives all year, but changes a lot by month. In July and August it is crowded and properly hot. In May, June and September the water is already warm and there are seats on the terraces. In winter some hotels are closed, but the promenade and the restaurants in the port are open.
There is more nearby than it seems. Cambrils is 10 km away, with a fishing port and good food. Tarragona, 12 km away, has kept a Roman amphitheatre right by the sea and is on the UNESCO list. Both are about twenty minutes' drive.
About the road. From Barcelona the trip takes ~1 hr 20 min on the AP-7, with no changes and a fixed price. If your flight lands in Reus, it is twenty minutes.

How long does the driver wait for free?
