Barcelona cruise port: getting to your ship on time

The terminals split into two groups. Moll Adossat, where terminals A, B, C, D and E sit, takes the large ships - MSC, Royal Caribbean, Costa. It is about 3 km from the end of the Ramblas, and there is no walking route: the road runs through the port's working area. The World Trade Center terminals, North and South, are closer to the city and take smaller ships.
From the airport to the port

Public transport does not go to the pier. The Aerobús takes you to Plaça de Catalunya, and from there you still need the port shuttle or a taxi - with your luggage, twice. The T2 shuttle bus runs from the Columbus monument to Moll Adossat, but only on cruise days and only during set hours.
How much time to allow
Boarding usually closes 60 to 90 minutes before departure. The exact time is on the ticket, and it is not a formality: a passenger who arrives after boarding closes is not taken on board.
Allow for the whole chain: the flight can be late, the luggage belt can be slow, the drive from the airport takes ~24 min and longer at rush hour. If your flight lands on the same day as departure, the sensible margin is four hours before boarding closes. It is calmer to fly in the day before.
After the cruise
The way back works the same, only with a tighter schedule: disembarkation is by group, and the whole ship comes off in two or three hours. The drive from the port to the airport takes ~21 min.
If your flight is in the evening and you have a day to spare, the car can take you into the city and you can leave your things at the hotel: from the port to central Barcelona is ~26 min.
