Transfers around Valencia

Valencia airport sits close to the city: 11 km to the centre, a drive of ~21 min - one of the shortest airport runs we offer. We drive to the centre of Valencia, to Cullera, to Gandia, to Denia, to Benidorm and to Alicante.

South of the city lies a coast that tourists know less well than the Costa Brava or the Costa del Sol. That is exactly why it is chosen by people who have been to Spain more than once. Cullera, with its castle above the town and the mouth of the Jucar, is ~45 min from the airport. Gandia, with its wide sandy beach and promenade, is ~56 min. Denia, where the Balearia ferries leave for Ibiza, Mallorca and Formentera, is ~1 hr 16 min.

Denia is the northern end of the Costa Blanca, and Alicante airport is an option from there too: it is about as far away as Valencia airport. The same goes for Benidorm: 148 km from Valencia, and half that from Alicante. We calculate both options - choose by your flight schedule. Valencia works well as a starting point: it is equally close to the coast and to the mountains, and Madrid is three and a half hours away along the A-3 motorway. For trips with several stops we work by the hour, with a minimum booking of three hours: the driver waits at the winery in Utiel or by the beach at El Saler while you are there.

The driver contacts you after landing and names the exact meeting point. Waiting at the airport is free for 60 minutes, counted from the actual landing. The price is fixed when you book: per car, not per person, and it does not depend on traffic, the time of day or the number of passengers. Child seats are free in every class.

A compact airport on the edge of the city. Valencia airport (VLC) lies in Manises, just west of the city, so the road into town runs east along the CV-30 through Mislata rather than along the sea. Metro lines 3 and 5 leave from the terminal for Xàtiva and Colón, but from there you still walk or take a taxi with your suitcases; a private car goes straight to the hotel entrance.

How the meeting works. Once the plane is down, check the app chat: the driver writes there exactly where he is waiting. For a greeting inside, add the paid meet-and-greet option: the driver then waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Held up at passport control or the baggage belt? Message him in the same chat; the free waiting hour runs from the actual landing, not from the time in your booking.

How far it is. The city route covers any address in Valencia, from the old quarter by the Central Market to the hotels facing Malvarrosa beach. The resort coast stretches south: Cullera, the closest beach town, is 54 km from the terminal, Gandia 78 km, Denia 113 km and Benidorm 148 km. Alicante, the farthest point, lies 177 km away, a drive of ~2 hr.

Valencia city centre. Good for a weekend or a week: the Central Market faces the silk exchange, El Carmen fills up at night, and the Turia gardens lead to the City of Arts and Sciences. The route suits business travellers, couples on a city break and families staying by the beach at Las Arenas. ~21 min, from €28; a Van for up to seven is from €58.

Cullera. The nearest resort has the most varied shore: the long San Antonio beach, rocky coves beyond the lighthouse and the Estany lagoon, calm enough for parents to use as a natural pool. It suits families with small children who want the beach on arrival day. Via the V-31 and AP-7: ~45 min, from €81.

Gandia. Two places share the name: the old town of the Borja dukes, the Borgias, with its Ducal Palace, and four kilometres away, beyond the Grau harbour, a beach of fine sand that slopes gently into the water. Spanish families holiday here, so it feels lively and practical rather than polished. Tell us whether your address is in town or by the sea. Via the V-31 and AP-7: ~56 min, from €109.

Denia. The natural choice if you are heading on to the islands: catamarans to Ibiza, Formentera and Palma leave from the Balearia terminal. Give us your sailing time and the pick-up is planned with a margin. Those staying choose between Les Marines, flat and shallow, and rocky Les Rotes, good for snorkelling. There is no railway, and the bus involves a change. By car on the AP-7: ~1 hr 16 min, from €152.

Benidorm. Towers rise above two long beaches, lively Levante and calmer, family-friendly Poniente, with the old town between them and Terra Mítica, Aqualandia and Mundomar on the edge of town. The route suits families and groups who found better fares, or simply free seats, on flights to Valencia in high season. From VLC on the AP-7: ~1 hr 36 min, from €193; from Alicante airport the ride is ~48 min, from €91.

Alicante. Santa Bárbara castle looks down on the palm-lined Explanada and Postiguet beach, with the long beaches of San Juan beyond the headland. The longest drive in the region pays off when tickets to Valencia are clearly cheaper: the train means reaching Valencia's station first, while the car goes straight down the AP-7 in ~2 hr, from €228.

Two directions from the terminal. City-bound cars take the CV-30 east through Mislata. Coast-bound cars head south on the V-31 and join the AP-7, which continues past Cullera, Gandia, Denia and Benidorm to Alicante. It runs a little inland, among the Albufera rice fields; Cullera's hill with the white lettering on its slope appears long before the exit.

Tolls. Tolls are not part of the fare: if your route uses a toll section, you pay the driver back for it on the spot, against the receipt. Nothing else is added: a jam, a night pick-up or a late plane leaves the price unchanged.

Traffic. Journey times here are calculated on the real road, not as the crow flies. A busy afternoon can stretch them, but never the price. In high season the roads around the Benidorm theme parks get crowded, and the driver knows the ways around the queues.

Seasons. August is the peak: Spanish families fill Gandia beach, and flights to Alicante sell out before those to Valencia, one reason many holidaymakers land at VLC and drive south. June and September are calmer on the sand. Catching a summer ferry in Denia? Book with the sailing time so the pick-up leaves room for the drive and boarding.

Pick the class by people and suitcases. Econom (a Toyota, Hyundai or similar), Eco (an electric or hybrid business-class car, a Tesla or Lexus) and Business (a Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 or similar) each take up to three passengers and two suitcases. Premium, a class above Business for up to three, is for meeting guests or a special occasion. A family of four, or three adults with more than two cases, needs the Van: up to seven passengers and seven suitcases. The Bus, a minibus for up to sixteen with luggage, suits a team, a wedding party or several families. Eco, Business, Van and Premium have a bottle of water on board.

Luggage. A pushchair, skis or a snowboard fit into the Van alongside the suitcases. The driver helps load and unload at both ends.

Child seats. Free in every class and mandatory for children up to and including 135 cm; tick one per child when booking.

Late arrivals. Enter your flight number when you book. If the plane is late, the driver moves the pick-up to the real landing time at no extra cost, and a landing after midnight costs the same as one at midday.

Booking. Book on the website or in the app, where the fare for every class appears straight away. The amount is reserved on your card before the trip and charged after it, and WhatsApp support answers around the clock.
