What awaits you in Castelldefels
A five-kilometre beach. The sandy beach runs the whole length of the town and is about a hundred metres wide on average. Even at the height of the season, you never have to hunt for a free spot by the water.
A beach for kitesurfing and windsurfing. There is almost always a wind blowing in Castelldefels, so there are plenty of surfers, kitesurfers and sailing enthusiasts on the beach. Equipment is available to hire. In summer a separate kitesurfing zone is set aside on La Pineda beach.
A tenth-century castle. The fortress on the hill is first recorded in 967. In the sixteenth century it was rebuilt to protect the coast from pirates. Today the castle houses a museum, and its viewing platform looks out over the sea and the Garraf mountains.
Where Barcelona locals come to unwind. People from Barcelona have been coming here for the seaside since the 1950s. Castelldefels has remained a residential town: on the beach you will find more locals than tourists.
Sitges next door. If you fancy proper resort life, Sitges is about 20 km away on the C‑32, around twenty minutes by car.
