What awaits you in Lloret de Mar
The main beach and a dozen coves. Platja de Lloret runs for more than a kilometre along the promenade. But the small coves between the rocks are more interesting: Sa Caleta with a castle on the cliff, Fenals, Canyelles - reached on foot or a few minutes' drive.
A path along the sea links the whole coast. The Camí de Ronda is a walking route over the rocks between the coves. To Tossa it is five hours' walking; you can pick a shorter stretch and then come back.
The town changes with the seasons. In summer it is a noisy resort with bars open till morning. In May and September it is an ordinary seaside town with warm water and free terraces. In winter much is closed.
The Santa Clotilde gardens above the sea. A park in Italian Renaissance style on a cliff, with staircases and a view of the water. One of the few quiet corners at the height of the season.
The neighbouring resorts are close. Tossa de Mar is half an hour along the winding coast road, Blanes and its botanical gardens about twenty minutes. Both towns are calmer than Lloret de Mar.
