The train is faster, but the station is down by the port and the old town is on the hill - a noticeable climb, especially with suitcases. The transfer takes you from your address to the right spot. The driver collects you at your door and drives straight to the address.

What awaits you in Tarragona
The Roman amphitheatre stands right by the water. Two thousand years ago gladiators fought here; today you can see the sea from the stands. From the upper rows you see the sea and the breakwaters, and the water is five minutes' walk away.
The whole archaeological ensemble is protected by UNESCO. Besides the amphitheatre there is the circus, the forum, the city walls and the Ferreres aqueduct outside town: 217 metres long, 27 metres high, two tiers, and you can walk across it.
Tarragona is not a resort. An ordinary port city with a university, a cargo port and a life of its own beyond tourism. Bar prices are local, not touristy, and in September the streets empty out.
