Straight to the old town
Girona is 102 km from Barcelona: a medieval quarter, a cathedral with the widest Gothic nave in Europe, the Jewish quarter and the red houses above the river Onyar. The drive takes ~1 hr 18 min.
The train is faster, but it arrives at the station in the new part of town, and the historic centre is a twenty-minute walk across the river. The driver picks you up at your address in Barcelona and takes you to the right spot in Girona.

What awaits you in Girona
One of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. El Call has survived almost intact: stone staircases, arches, courtyards. The streets are so narrow that in places two people cannot pass.

A city wall you can walk along. The Passeig de la Muralla runs above the old town, with towers and views over the roofs. A kilometre and a half, free entry.
Figueres with the Dalí museum is 46 minutes away. From there to Cadaqués, where Dalí lived, it is another hour.
