Barcelona to Pas de la Casa
186 km to the highest town in Andorra. Fixed price known when you book.

Transfer from Barcelona to Pas de la Casa
Pas de la Casa sits at just over two thousand metres on the French border, which makes it the highest town in the country and the one with the most reliable snow. It is also the furthest from Barcelona: a hundred and ninety three kilometres, most of them climbing.
There is no railway into the country. Coaches run to the capital, and from there you need a local bus up to the pass with your ski bags. A private car goes door to door in about two and three quarter hours.

Where you'll arrive

What Pas de la Casa is like
It is a ski town rather than a village that happens to have skiing. Blocks of apartments, ski hire on the ground floors, and lifts leaving from the edge of the streets: you can walk out of a building and onto a slope, which is why people put up with the architecture.
The altitude is the selling point. At this height the season is longer and the cover more dependable than lower down, and the slopes above the town are open and treeless. It links directly into the wider Grandvalira area, so a lift pass here reaches the sectors further down the valley.
The other thing people come for is shopping. The country sits outside the European Union and the town is the first stop after the French border, so the main street is shops rather than restaurants.
Getting there: the options
By coach. Scheduled services reach the capital from Barcelona, and the final climb to the pass is a separate local bus with limited departures.
By hire car. Manageable in good weather. In snow the Port d'Envalira, at two thousand four hundred metres, is the highest paved pass in the Pyrenees and it closes when conditions are bad.
By private transfer. Door to your apartment, room for ski bags, and a driver who checks the pass before setting out rather than after.
Winter, borders and luggage
Tell us about the equipment. Skis and boards need space. Four people with four ski bags is a different vehicle from four people with suitcases, and it is easier to arrange at booking than at the kerb.
Carry your documents. The country is outside the European Union and there is a border crossing on the way in.
Allow more time on snowy days. Our drivers use vehicles equipped for the mountain roads in season, but the climb is slower when it is falling. For the return we set off earlier than the map suggests.
Altitude is real at this height. Two thousand metres is enough to make the first evening tiring. Water, and an early night before the first full day.
