Transfer from the cruise port to Sitges
Forty three kilometres south along the coast, about three quarters of an hour. People make this trip in two situations: staying on a few days after the cruise, or spending a port day somewhere other than Barcelona.
Public transport means the port shuttle to the gate, a walk or bus to Passeig de Gracia or Sants, and then a regional train down the coast. Three legs with luggage, and the train ride itself takes forty minutes.

What you'll find in Sitges
Seventeen beaches along three kilometres of seafront, with a church standing on a rock between two of them. Behind that is a compact old town of white houses and narrow lanes.
The town has been an artists' resort since the nineteenth century. Santiago Rusinol turned his house on the front into the Cau Ferrat museum, and the Maricel museum next door completes the pair. Both are five minutes from the beach.
It is also one of the most openly gay-friendly towns on the coast, which shapes the atmosphere along the front in summer and fills the town completely during the February carnival.
Getting there: the options
By shuttle and train. Port shuttle to the gate, then across town to the station, then the regional line. About an hour and a half in total with the changes.
By coach. Cruise excursions go there, but on the excursion's timetable rather than yours.
By private transfer. Three quarters of an hour, terminal to your address, with the ship name checked in advance so the driver waits at the right berth.
Port day or a few days after
If it is a port day, the return time matters most. Ships close boarding well before departure, and we set the pickup with that in mind rather than with the sailing time.

The old town is narrow. Some lanes are pedestrian and others barely fit a car, so give the exact address and we get as close as the street allows.
Carnival and the film festival fill the town in February and October, and the approach roads slow accordingly.
