Transfer from the cruise port to the Penedès
The Penedès is the wine region closest to Barcelona and the usual choice for a port day outside the city. 59 km inland, ~50 min from the terminals, via Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Vilafranca del Penedès.
You can get there by train from Barcelona, but from the ship it is awkward: the port shuttle, a crossing of the city to Sants, a suburban train to Sant Sadurní, and the cellars stand outside the town. With hourly hire the driver stays with you between the wineries and takes you back to the port.
Comfort - up to three people with standard luggage. Van - the choice for families and groups: seven seats, and the boot takes a pushchair, skis or a snowboard alongside the suitcases. Premium - business trips and meeting guests: a higher-class car, up to three passengers.

The Penedès: what kind of place it is
This is where cava comes from. Sant Sadurní d'Anoia sits on kilometres of underground cellars, and the biggest producers run tours through them on little trains: walking the tunnels would take a morning.
Vilafranca del Penedès, fifteen minutes further on, is the region's market town, with the wine museum. Scattered around both are the still-wine estates: from modest family concerns to buildings whose architecture is worth a trip in itself.
The landscape here is gentle hills under vines rather than dramatic terraces: green in spring, gold in September, with masia farmhouses between the fields.
A port day among the vineyards
Boarding closes before sailing. We count the return pick-up from the time boarding closes, and that is the time we need from you.
Two cellars make a comfortable day from the ship. A visit lasts an hour to an hour and a half, the drive between estates fifteen to twenty minutes.
Book the cellars yourself in advance. The big cava houses take bookings online; small estates only by arrangement.
Give the name of the ship. The port has two cruise zones and six terminals in the main one; we will confirm the berth in advance.
