Barcelona Cruise Port to Penedes wine country

Transfer from the cruise port to Penedes

Penedes is the nearest wine region to Barcelona and the usual choice for a port day out of the city. Fifty six kilometres inland, about an hour from the terminals, through Sant Sadurni d'Anoia and Vilafranca del Penedes.

It is doable by train from Barcelona, but not easily from a ship: the port shuttle, a city leg to Sants, a regional train to Sant Sadurni, and then the cellars are outside the town rather than in it.

What the region is like

This is where cava comes from. Sant Sadurni d'Anoia sits on kilometres of underground cellars, and the largest producers run tours through them on small trains because walking the tunnels would take a morning.

Vilafranca del Penedes, fifteen minutes further, is the market town of the region and has the wine museum. Around both are still wine estates, some of them modest family operations and some with architecture worth the visit on its own.

The landscape is low hills of vines rather than dramatic terraces: green in spring, gold in September, and dotted with masia farmhouses.

Getting there: the options

By shuttle and train. Three legs to reach Sant Sadurni, and the cellars are still outside the town when you arrive.

By excursion coach. Cruise lines sell this trip; it runs on a fixed timetable with a fixed cellar.

By hire car. The obvious problem in a wine region is that somebody has to drive.

By private transfer. An hour from the terminal, and the driver stays with you between cellars so nobody in the group has to stay sober.

A port day in the vineyards

Boarding closes before sailing. We set the return from the boarding deadline, not the departure time, and that is the number to give us.

Two cellars is a comfortable day from a ship. Visits run about an hour and a half each, and the drive between them is fifteen to twenty minutes.

Book the cellars yourself in advance. The large cava houses take bookings online; the smaller estates receive by appointment only.

Tell us the ship name. There are two cruise areas and four terminals in the main one, and we check the berth rather than guessing on the morning.

Every transfer includes

🔹 Flight tracking. We follow your flight number and move the pickup ourselves if the plane is late. Nothing to tell us, no surcharge.

🔹 60 minutes of free waiting at the airport, counted from landing. At the cruise port it starts when the ship docks, at Sants station when the train arrives.

🔹 Meet & Greet with a name sign in the arrivals hall. Included in Premium, 10 € in Comfort and Van.

🔹 Nothing is charged upfront. The amount is held on your card at booking and charged only when the ride is completed. Until then the money stays with you.

🔹 Child seat at no cost in every vehicle class. Tick the box when booking.

🔹 WhatsApp support around the clock on +34 646 75 15 29, before and during the ride.

🔹 Fixed price per vehicle, no hidden fees. Not per person, and it does not change with traffic, night hours or luggage. Toll roads are shown separately in the booking.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the drive from the port?

About an hour for the fifty six kilometres.

Can we visit two cellars on a port day?

Yes, that is the usual plan. Each visit runs about an hour and a half and the drive between them is fifteen to twenty minutes.

Do you book the cellars for us?

No, book them yourself in advance. The large cava houses take online bookings; smaller estates receive by appointment.

When should we be back at the ship?

Give us the boarding deadline rather than the sailing time; we set the return from that.

Where does the driver meet us?

At your ship's terminal. Give the ship name at booking so we check the berth.

Does the driver wait between cellars?

Yes. Waiting and the legs between them are agreed at booking so the price is known before you set off.

Is there a train?

From Barcelona yes, but from a ship it means three legs, and the cellars are outside the towns.

Is the price per person?

No, per car. The fare covers the vehicle and everyone in it, up to capacity.

Do you carry child seats?

Yes, free of charge. Add the option when you book.

Are tolls included?

No. Tolls are not included in the fare and are added if the route uses them.
