A twelfth-century fortress right on the shore. The Vila Vella is the only surviving fortified medieval village on the whole Catalan coast. The walls and towers stand on a rock above the sea, entry is free, and inside there are narrow lanes and viewpoints.
A beach in the horseshoe of the bay. The main Platja Gran lies between the fortress and the headland, with calm water. Nearby are the small coves of Codolar and Mar Menuda, five to ten minutes on foot.
Quieter here than the neighbours. Tossa has deliberately stayed without nightclubs or high-rises. People come for a calm holiday: families, couples, those who find Lloret too loud.
The winding GI-682 road. The stretch from Lloret runs over the rocks above the sea, about half an hour and a dozen scenic bends. Many come for the road itself.
