Puente Nuevo, 98 metres high. Work on the first bridge across the gorge began in 1735, but six years later it collapsed. The present bridge was built from 1751 to May 1793 to a design by the architect José Martín de Aldehuela. It links the old town with the Mercadillo quarter. Inside the bridge there is now an interpretation centre that tells the story of its construction and of the nature of the gorge. The centre is entered from Plaza de España.
The Tajo gorge, 100 metres deep. The River Guadalevín flows along the bottom of the gorge. It runs for 500 metres and is about 50 metres wide. If you want to see it from below, the Ronda tourist office sells tickets for the Desfiladero del Tajo walk through the gorge, which takes about 50 minutes.
The Real Maestranza bullring, open since 1785. The first bullfight here was fought by the bullfighters Pedro Romero and Pepe Illo. The design is attributed to the same Martín de Aldehuela who built Puente Nuevo, and the ring is 66 metres across. Inside there is a bullfighting museum and a collection of horse harness. The bullring is open to visitors every day: from November to February from 10:00 to 18:00, and from April to September until 20:00.
Arab baths from the 13th-14th centuries. Unlike Roman baths, these were steam baths. The cold, warm and hot rooms have survived to this day. From Tuesday to Friday the baths are open from 10:00 to 19:00, and on Sundays only until 15:00, so on a Sunday come in the morning.
The Corrida Goyesca in early September. In the first week of September Ronda town council holds the Pedro Romero fair. Its main event, the Corrida Goyesca, was created in 1954 by the matador Antonio Ordóñez, and the participants enter the ring in costumes from Goya's time. If you are going to the fair, book your accommodation and transfer well in advance.
The A-397 and A-367 roads to Ronda. The driver can follow the coast to San Pedro de Alcántara and climb into the mountains there on the A-397: from San Pedro to Ronda it is about 49 km. You can also choose the route via Ardales: from there the driver covers the last 41 km to Ronda on the A-367. You and the driver decide together which road to take.
