Mobile World Congress 2027: how to get to Fira Gran Via

Mobile World Congress runs 1-4 March 2027 at Fira Gran Via and brings more than 100,000 people to Barcelona in four days. The venue sits in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, outside the historic centre, and the week has its own traffic pattern: everyone moves toward the same two entrances between eight and ten in the morning, and away from them after six.

Planning the arrival matters more than usual that week. Not because the distance is long, but because the margin is thin when a keynote starts at a fixed hour.

From Barcelona El Prat airport to Fira Gran Via

The venue is 8.5 kilometres north of the airport, about ten minutes by road in normal traffic. It is one of the shortest airport runs in the city, which surprises people who expect a congress venue to be far out.

During congress week that ten minutes stretches. Approach roads to the north and south entrances queue up in the morning peak, and the C-31 carries both congress traffic and normal commuter flow.

What this means in practice: a car leaving the terminal at eight in the morning on 2 March is not making the same trip as a car leaving at two in the afternoon. Say your session time when booking and the pickup is calculated backwards from it.

Vehicle choice for congress week:

• Comfort for one or two delegates with cabin luggage
• Van for teams and demo equipment: it seats seven, six in the back and one in front, with a separate luggage compartment
• Premium when the car is part of the meeting, Mercedes S-class

The Meet & Greet option puts a driver in the arrivals hall with a name sign. It costs +10 EUR in Comfort and Van and is included in Premium. Worth it on a first arrival at T1, where the hall is large and the exits are not obvious.

What that week actually feels like: the morning arrival window is narrower than the schedule suggests, the walk between distant halls costs more time than any traffic jam, and the queue at the pickup rank after the closing keynote is the part nobody plans for.

A car for the whole congress day

Congress week is rarely one journey. Satellite meetings sit in the 22@ district, dinners are spread across the city, and the gap between two appointments is often forty minutes.

Drop-off and pickup zones sit outside the north and south hall entrances. Which one you want depends on your hall, and during peak hours the two behave differently: south fills earlier because of the metro exit next to it.

Tell your driver the hall number rather than the venue name. Fira Gran Via is 240,000 square metres of exhibition space, and walking from the wrong entrance costs ten minutes inside the building.

Booking before the week starts

Congress week sells out car capacity across the city, not only hotels. Booking in advance fixes both the car and the price: the fare you see at booking is the fare you pay, with no surcharge for traffic or for the week itself.

Staying outside the city during the congress? Many delegates book hotels along the coast where rates stay normal that week, and Sitges is a common choice, forty minutes from the venue.
