What awaits you in Pineda de Mar
The longest beach on the Maresme. That is how Catalonia's official tourism portal describes the beach at Pineda. The strip of sand runs through the whole town, from one end to the other. In 2026 its Pescadors section was awarded a Blue Flag. This international award goes to beaches with clean water and well-planned facilities.
Pins beach and water sports. On the northern edge of town, towards Santa Susanna, Pins beach begins. The Base Nàutica watersports centre here hires out kayaks, and you can go out to sea on a catamaran with an instructor.
The medieval castle of Montpalau. The ruins of a castle survive on top of a hill above the town. It is first mentioned in documents in 1082. Today all that remains are the walls and a half-ruined tower. The climb to the ruins is not easy, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
The Montnegre hills. Pineda is one of the main starting points for walks in the Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park. You can follow a forest trail in the morning and be back on the beach by lunchtime.
Barcelona for a day. The R1 commuter train runs from Pineda de Mar station to Plaça de Catalunya with no changes in about 1 hour 10 minutes. You can swim in the morning, wander the streets of Barcelona in the afternoon and be back in Pineda by sunset.
The road from the airport. From Barcelona airport the driver skirts the city centre and joins the C-32, which runs along the coast. There are no toll sections on this route: tolls on the northern C-32 were scrapped in 2021. By train you would have to change at Sants station, while a transfer takes you straight to your hotel door.
