What to know about Bilbao Airport
26 airlines and 51 destinations. According to Aena, as of 3 November 2026, 26 airlines fly from Bilbao to 51 destinations. They include three London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton), two Paris airports (Charles de Gaulle and Orly), Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich and Istanbul. All these flights arrive at the airport's single terminal.
The Artxanda tunnels section is closed for repairs. The shortest road from the airport to central Bilbao runs through the Artxanda tunnels. According to the Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, the tunnel section from La Salve to Txorierri is closed to traffic for five months from 2 November 2026 for major repairs. While it is closed, the driver will take you to central Bilbao by a detour.
The DO04 bus to San Sebastián runs once an hour. According to the timetable from 1 October 2026 published by Aena, the Lurraldebus DO04 bus leaves the airport for San Sebastián every hour, daily from 07:45 to 22:45, from 06:45 at weekends, with one more departure at 00:00. To Vitoria-Gasteiz there is the La Unión A3720 bus: it calls at Lakua bus station and goes on into the city centre. Both buses stop on the arrivals level.
The AP-8 and AP-1 to San Sebastián are toll roads. At the 2026 rates, a car on the AP-8 and AP-1 from the western entrances, such as Basauri or Amorebieta, to the Zarautz toll point pays €13.81. Toll roads are not included in the transfer price: if the route uses a toll section, you pay the driver back on the spot, against the receipt. You and the driver decide together which road to take.
