Where your driver meets you at Barcelona airport
The plane has landed, you have your bags, you walk out into the hall - and run into a wall of people holding signs. In 2025 El Prat handled 57.5 million passengers against a design capacity of 55 million, so the crowd is not a rush-hour thing here. It is most of the time.

You do not have to find anyone in that crowd. The driver writes to you himself and tells you where the car is. Below is how it works step by step, and what happens if the plane is put down at the wrong terminal.
Check your boarding pass first
El Prat has two terminals and they are four kilometres apart. The shuttle is free, but that is another 10-14 minutes plus the wait. Arriving at the wrong terminal is the most annoying way to lose time there is, because you can rule it out in advance: the letter is printed on your boarding pass.

| Terminal 1 | Terminal 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Airlines | Vueling, Iberia, long-haul | Ryanair, easyJet, low-cost |
| Arrivals level | Level 0 | Ground floor, sections A, B, C |
| Layout | One large hall | Three sections along the building |
| Shuttle to the other | 10 min | 14 min |
How the two buildings differ inside is a separate article - on Terminals 1 and 2.
What happens while you wait for your luggage
The driver is not watching the time on your booking, he is watching the flight number. His clock starts the moment the plane touches the runway.
In order:
Before departure the app shows the driver's name, the car model and its plate.
After landing a message arrives with the exact meeting point. Cars with a VTC licence wait in the airport car park, and the driver tells you which exit to head for and which level to go down to. Go exactly there - a terminal has several exits and they lead to different sides.
If you would rather be met inside, that is the Meet & Greet option: the driver stands in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. The option costs 10 €.
The gate changed while you were in the air
It happens: weather, a late inbound aircraft, sometimes no explanation at all. Occasionally the plane is put down at the other terminal altogether.
For the driver nothing changes. The flight number tells him where the plane landed, and he brings the car round to the right terminal. No calls needed, no extra charge.
There is one case worth writing about: if the flight is diverted to another airport, Girona or Reus. Tell support as soon as you know. The booking is rebuilt for the new airport and the price recalculated by distance.
An hour of free waiting
The clock starts from the actual landing, not from the schedule. An hour covers the whole usual chain with room to spare: taxiing, the walk through the terminal, passport control, the baggage belt. In Barcelona that takes 25-40 minutes on a Schengen flight. When there is a queue at the border, up to an hour.

If the hour runs out and you are still inside, message the driver in the app. Waiting beyond that is charged, but the car does not leave.
Four things that save time
The flight number in the booking. Without it tracking does not switch on, and the driver only knows the time you typed in by hand.
Turn off airplane mode before the baggage belt. The message with the meeting point arrives exactly while you wait for your cases.
Read the message before you leave the building. Walk out at random and you will have to come back the same way, which is slow with suitcases.
Write rather than call. The hall is noisy and a message gets through faster.
With children everything works the same, you just need more slack - there is a separate article on arriving with kids.
Frequently asked questions
Where will the driver meet me at Barcelona airport? He writes after landing and names the exact spot: which exit from the terminal and which level of the car park. You do not have to look for him in the hall.
How will I recognise the driver? His name, the car model and its plate are visible in the app in advance. After landing a message arrives along with a tracking link.
Will the driver meet me with a sign in the arrivals hall? That is the Meet & Greet option, 10 € in any class. Without it you meet at the car, following the driver's message.
How long is the free waiting time at Barcelona airport? 60 minutes from the actual landing. After that waiting is charged, but the driver waits for you.
What if the plane lands at a different terminal? The driver sees it from the flight number and brings the car round to the right terminal. Nothing is required from you and there is no extra charge.
What if the luggage takes more than an hour? Message the driver in the app. He will stay, and the time beyond the hour is charged at the waiting rate from your booking.
Do I pay before or after the ride? The amount is held on your card when you book and charged as the ride begins. Nothing is taken up front.
Can I cancel if my plans change? A scheduled transfer can be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours before the pickup.
The drive from the airport to central Barcelona takes ~26 min, and the price of from €58 per car is fixed when you book and does not depend on the traffic or the time of day. In the other direction, from Sants station to the airport, it all works the same, with free waiting at the station.
The rest of the destinations are in the transfer catalogue.
