Barcelona to Andorra transfer: how to get there comfortably

Andorra is a popular destination from Barcelona: in winter for the Grandvalira and Vallnord ski resorts, in summer for shopping and mountain air. The distance is about 200 km and the trip takes roughly 3 hours.

Important: Andorra is not in the EU

Andorra is not part of the EU or Schengen, so there may be passport checks at the border. Bring your passport and the documents that allow you to re-enter the Schengen area (visa or residence permit if your nationality requires them).

Ways to get there

Scheduled bus

Direct buses leave from Sants station and El Prat airport several times a day. Travel time: 3.5-4 hours with stops. A ticket costs around 30-35 euros.

Downsides: a rigid timetable, boarding only at major stops, tickets sell out in advance during the winter high season, and ski luggage is an extra headache.

Car rental

Freedom to choose your route, but with caveats: in winter, chains may be required on the N-145 and mountain passes, parking in Andorra la Vella is paid, and returning the car in another country is often expensive.
